Thursday 10 December is global human rights day
The theme this year is #RecoverBetter as we all seek to rebuild globally, nationally and individually to create ‘new normals’, both during, and after, Covid19.
On this day in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly. This declaration has at its heart the entitlement of equality and non racial bias for every human being.
The World Health Organisation works hard with organisations around the world to ensure that our physical and psychological health needs, combined with our human rights, are satisfied. The two are closely intertwined.
Whilst Covid has at times fragmented social relationships due to differences of opinion, the fact remains we all have to build back as one. Only by doing this together will we achieve harmony and equality and protect the basic human rights of everyone.
