Hugh Quarshie Joins SOS as an Ambassador

Hugh has had a long and distinguished acting career both on stage and screen.  He is perhaps best known for his long standing role as Ric Griffin in Holby City, which lasted for 19 years until his departure on screen in November 2020. Ric is also a member of the Royal Shakespeare company and has appeared on stage in many productions.

Having emigrated with his family from Ghana to the UK when he was 3, Hugh went on to to read PPE at Christ Church, Oxford.

Hugh has shown immense interest in the work of SOS and is proud to be joining our existing Trustees and Ambassadors who are all dedicated to helping SOS support more people in more places who are affected by suicide and mental wellbeing in general.

SOS have regular contact with Hugh,  who is passionate about men’s mental health in particular and has produced some compelling video clips on our behalf.

A keen drummer, he has been known to pick up his sticks for a session or two with our lead trustee, Michael Mansfield, with whom he also shares another love of beautiful, vibrant colour.
