SOS Silence of Suicide is looking for volunteers who can assist us with our service delivery to vulnerable adults struggling with their mental health

We are based in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire and work in our local communty but also on a nationwide basis.

Due to Covid-19 and an exciting new phase in our development, we are getting busier and will require more volunteers going forward. The current virus means that more people are developing poor mental health whilst those with existing vulnerabilites feel more susceptible through isolation and anxiety.  As a result, we are extremely under-resourced and would value your help.

We would like to thank Hannah Stephen from Renegade Communications and Caroline Noel from We Can Do Business for their amazing work on a volunteer basis.  Between them, they are covering our Google Adwords and Grant Applications.  We could not have progressed this far without them.

We currently need the following volunteers for our Charity

1: Phone Volunteers:  Full Training available.  We are looking for people who are good listeners and can remain calm in any situation to take calls from people who may be in crisis.  You may also be taking calls from people who simply want to hear a friendly voice.  You will be a listening service only and not giving advice.

Please use the contact form at the end to get in touch, detailing how much time you have each week to volunteer as a phone listener for us.

2: Meeting Volunteers: SOS operate all over the country, hosting meetings designed to get the conversations around mental health and suicide going.  We believe the stigma, shame and silence surrounding these subjects needs to be eradicated.  For the time being, these meetings will be hosted online.

We are looking for people across the country who could be available to accompany us to our meetings to provide additional listening support to those in attendance and help promote the work of SOS.  Full training will be given.

Reasonable & necessary expenses will be paid.

Please use the contact form at the end to get in touch, detailing how much time you have each week to volunteer as a meeting volunteer for us.

3: Experienced Fundraisers: We are looking for fundraisers, ideally with experience in the charitable sector, to explore and develop fundraising ideas and opportunities for our Charity.  You’ll need to be passionate about mental health, as well as being driven, proactive and a great communicator.  If you have at least 2 years fundraising experience and have some time you could spare to help us, then please get in touch.

We don’t mind what your age, gender, religion, race, sexual orientation or disability is. What does matter is that you have a passion for, and active interest in, and an understanding of mental wellbeing and the challenges that brings to people on a daily basis.

If you have some spare time during the week and would like to be involved in a charity that works hard to make a difference to the vulnerable within our society, then please get in touch as we would love to speak to you!

Please email: telling us why you would like to volunteer with us and a little bit about yourself too!

We look forward to hearing from you.
