CEO Yvette Greenway-Mansfield Named Finalist for “The Inspirational Individual” Award

SOS Silence of Suicide is proud to announce that our CEO, Yvette Greenway-Mansfield, has been named one of the finalists for this year’s Coventry & Warwickshire Business and Community Awards in the prestigious category of “The Inspirational Individual.”

As the co-founder of SOS Silence of Suicide in 2015 and CEO since 2017, Yvette has been the driving force behind the charity’s remarkable growth and impact. Despite her own personal challenges, including health issues and profound loss to suicide, Yvette has channelled her experiences into a tireless commitment to breaking the stigma, silence, and shame surrounding mental health and suicide. Her leadership has transformed SOS into a beacon of hope for those in crisis.

Yvette’s dedication is evident in the innovative solutions she has introduced to reach individuals who might otherwise go unsupported. In 2024, she oversaw the launch of mobile mental health hubs, a groundbreaking initiative to bring mental health services directly to underserved communities. These hubs, alongside the SOS telephone helpline, have provided a lifeline to countless individuals, with the helpline alone receiving over 35,000 calls in the past year. The helpline’s unique approach encourages open, caring conversations through simple, non-invasive questions, offering support to those in desperate need.

From the early days of building SOS from scratch, Yvette has devoted countless hours, often unpaid and during unsociable hours, to growing the charity. She has opened doors to institutions, including universities, businesses, prisons, and government departments, fostering safe spaces for individuals to share their struggles. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when in-person gatherings were no longer possible, Yvette swiftly developed a remote helpline and recruited voluntary workers to ensure continued support.

Her vision didn’t stop there. Yvette’s innovative business plan captured the imagination of the Valour Foundation, securing a transformative £7 million grant over five years. This funding has allowed SOS to expand its services beyond expectations, including the rollout of mobile wellbeing hubs, which have garnered widespread attention and praise.

“This recognition is deeply humbling,” said Yvette Greenway-Mansfield. “Every achievement of SOS is a testament to the collective effort of our team, voluntary workers, and supporters. Together, we’re creating a world where no one feels alone in their mental health journey, and every voice is heard. This nomination belongs to all of us.”

Yvette’s passion and unwavering dedication have made her an inspirational leader. Her ability to turn vision into reality has brought vital support to those who need it most, saving lives and restoring hope. If anyone deserves to be recognised as “The Inspirational Individual,” it is Yvette Greenway-Mansfield.

The Coventry & Warwickshire Business and Community Awards celebrate outstanding achievements across the region, highlighting individuals and organisations who make a significant difference in their communities. The winners will be announced at the upcoming awards ceremony, and we look forward to celebrating this inspiring achievement.
