Francesca Runs with Heart and Hope to Break the Silence Around Suicide at Richmond Park Half Marathon
With immense courage and determination, Francesca raised £1034 by running in the Richmond Park Half Marathon on 13 April 2025, all in support of SOS Silence of Suicide. Having lost her father to suicide six years ago, Francesca’s fundraising journey is deeply personal, driven by a heartfelt desire to help others who are struggling with the same pain.
“I chose SOS Silence of Suicide because it feels so relevant to the world we live in today. Losing my dad to suicide was one of the hardest things I’ve ever been through, and this charity is so close to my heart,” Francesca shared. “Being able to provide support to others who need it means everything to me.”
The half marathon was a challenging yet unforgettable experience for Francesca, who was joined by her fiancé, sister, and brother-in-law as she ran the hilly course. “The sun came out and it was a beautiful morning,” she said. “It was hillier than expected, but I kept going with the love and support of my family. The event was so well-organised, and I treated myself to lunch in the sun afterward—it felt like a real celebration.”
Reflecting on the day’s journey, Francesca’s words captured the spirit of her determination: “It’s not about how fast you go, it’s about not stopping. Pain is temporary, but pride is forever.”
Yvette Greenway-Mansfield, CEO of SOS Silence of Suicide, expressed her deep gratitude for Francesca’s incredible support: “Francesca’s strength and determination truly move me. She’s not just running for herself—she’s running for everyone who has been affected by the devastating impact of suicide. Her story is a powerful reminder of why we do the work we do at SOS Silence of Suicide. What she’s achieved, both through her fundraising and her willingness to speak out, is helping to break the silence and give others the courage to do the same. We are so incredibly grateful for her support and for the hope she’s spreading to others who need it most.”
