Nine SOS Runners Complete the London Landmark Half Marathon, Raising Over £6,800 to Support Mental Health
Under bright sunshine and with the cheers of thousands lining the streets, a team of nine incredible individuals ran their hearts out for SOS Silence of Suicide at this year’s London Landmark Half Marathon on Sunday, 6 April.
Among a crowd of 23,952 runners, SOS team members Jo Lewis, Steve Hayden, Joanne Quigley, Luke, Kieren Bodill, Becca Evans, Sarah Mills, Ciara Robertson, and Jacqueline Mensah -Teague proudly wore their SOS vests as they took on the 13.1-mile route through central London – all in the name of breaking the stigma, silence and shame surrounding suicide and mental health.
Together, they have raised an amazing £5,614 and counting, with Gift Aid giving the total an even greater boost to £6,888.75. Every step they took, and every pound raised, will help SOS continue to provide crucial support through community outreach, training staff and voluntary workers, community events, our freephone helpline and our Mobile Wellbeing Hubs.
Yvette Greenway-Mansfield, CEO and Co-Founder of SOS Silence of Suicide, shared her heartfelt thanks:
“There are no words big enough to capture our gratitude. Jo, Steve, Joanne, Luke, Kieren, Becca, Sarah, Ciara and Jacque have given so much – not just physically, but emotionally – to support those who feel alone in their darkest moments.
What they’ve achieved is truly powerful. They’ve raised vital funds, yes, but they’ve also raised awareness, and most importantly, hope. We’re so proud of them and thankful to every single person who donated, supported, or cheered them on.”
The atmosphere on the day was electric – full of energy, encouragement and compassion. From the first mile to the last, our runners felt the love of friends, family, strangers, and the wider SOS community.
SOS Silence of Suicide would like to thank everyone who supported the team in any way. Your kindness is helping us reach more people than ever before, reminding them that they are not alone – and never will be.
