With Love, Loss and Hope: SOS Silence of Suicide Thanks Sian Treadwell for Her Inspiring Fundraiser in Memory of her brother Dane

With Love, Loss and Hope: SOS Silence of Suicide Thanks Sian Treadwell for Her Inspiring Fundraiser in Memory of her brother Dane

At SOS Silence of Suicide, we are a community dedicated to breaking the stigma and silence around mental health and suicide. We provide support, resources, and a safe space for those affected by these issues. On Saturday, 29th March 2025, one such act unfolded at The Old Bull in Royston, where Sian and her brother Luke hosted the Heaven & Hope (Never Forgotten) open event in memory of their beloved brother, Dane Treadwell.

Dane wasn’t just a brother, son, dad and uncle — he was the kind of man who left a quiet but lasting mark on every heart he touched. Dane is hard-working, gentle, loyal, and always ready to support others. All who know and love him deeply feel his absence.

In honour of Dane’s memory and spirit, Sian brought people together to remember, reflect, and raise funds in support of our mission to break the stigma and silence around mental health and suicide.

In her beautiful way, Sian shared 100 handwritten reasons to stay — a profoundly moving gesture filled with love and honesty. It reminded us that even in our darkest moments, the most minor things — a smile, a memory, a hug, a sunrise — can help anchor us in hope.

“Sometimes we need reminding of little things, especially on the darkest days,” Sian said. “I felt this event lifted a few, which for me was the most uplifting feeling I could have received on what was a hard day — but together, it was a day impacting people positively.”

So far, Sian’s event has raised over £1,370, with more still to come — a genuinely incredible tribute to Dane and a powerful show of love from those who gathered to remember him. This event has raised funds and inspired hope and unity in our community.

Reflecting on the day, Sian said it best:  “Challenging but rewarding — no one’s alone in the storms.”

At SOS Silence of Suicide, we were genuinely humbled by this event and by Sian’s strength and courage. Our CEO, Yvette Greenway-Mansfield, shared:

“Sian’s event is a deeply touching example of what it means to love beyond loss. She has turned her heartbreak into hope for others, an extraordinary gift. Her handwritten ‘100 reasons to stay’ moved us all. On behalf of the SOS family, we thank her from the bottom of our hearts for helping others feel less alone.”

Sian is already looking ahead to future fundraising, hoping to host a charity ball and even cycling from Essex to Yarmouth — another beautiful tribute to Dane and a sign of how far love will go when it refuses to give up. These future events give us all something to look forward to and a reason to keep hope alive.

Thank you to Sian and to everyone who came to honour Dane. Your compassion lights the way for others, and we are deeply grateful for your support. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by mental health issues.
