Charlotte Dickson’s remarkable trek for SOS Silence of Suicide raises £7440, honouring her lost friend

Charlotte Dickson’s remarkable trek for SOS Silence of Suicide raises £7440, honouring her lost friend

We would like to say a big thank you Charlotte Dickson, who in a truly awe-inspiring display of courage and of determination, embarked on an extraordinary trek from the north to south of Singapore, raising an incredible £7400 for SOS Silence of Suicide. This remarkable feat not only raises awareness about mental health but also pays a heartfelt tribute to a dear friend lost to suicide.

Charlotte’s journey began as a personal mission to honour the memory of her friend Alex, whose tragic loss left an indelible mark on her heart. Determined to make a difference and break the silence surrounding mental health, Charlotte set out on an ambitious trek across Singapore, symbolising the challenging journey that those affected by mental health issues often face.

With each step, Charlotte’s purpose became clearer, and her commitment to raising funds for SOS Silence of Suicide grew stronger. The organisation, dedicated to providing support and resources for those struggling with mental health, resonated deeply with Charlotte’s first-hand experiences and her desire to prevent others from enduring the pain she had witnessed.

Charlotte said: “I wanted to support a small charity that potentially doesn’t get the large donations of some of the bigger more well-known charities. I wanted to ensure the funds raised really made a difference. Also, the name of the charity really resonated since my friend was totally silent about her mental health issues before she died. And no matter what, you are never alone.

The event was a big success but also very emotional. Having a group of friends support me for such an amazing cause was quite overwhelming and whilst walking it gave me time to think how much Alex would have loved it.”

SOS Silence of Suicide Trustee, Michael Mansfield QC, said: “Thank you Charlotte, for your incredible journey, your unwavering spirit, and your dedication to making a difference.

Your efforts have touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts and inspiring us all to strive for a world where silence is replaced by understanding, empathy, and love.”

As we celebrate Charlotte’s extraordinary achievement, let us come together to support organisations like SOS Silence of Suicide and continue the fight against the stigma surrounding mental health. Together, we can create a world where no one suffers in silence, where every individual feels valued, heard, and supported.
